By Ian Mendes Oct 17, Earlier this week, I read a disturbing story in the New York Daily News about provocative Halloween costumes targeted at tween girls. As a father of two young daughters—including one who is right in the tween demographic—I was appalled to read about this alarming trend. Cop Cutie: A form-fitting mini-dress, with high-heeled leather boots and a pair of handcuffs to provocatively swing around. Major Flirt: Once again, high-heeled leather boots make an appearance in this military-themed costume for girls. Fallen Angel: Because young girls everywhere should be wearing fishnet stockings. You can dress your child in a spidery seductress costume that makes her look like a naughty witch. According to the site, this is for girls ages three and up—because there are choking hazards with the costume.

Your school might even allow you to dress up if Halloween is on the weekday, or your classmate might be throwing a spooky get-together at their place. Make sure to watch some makeup tutorials on YouTube for this one. Dress up as the guardian of justice and love with a yellow wig, sailor costume, and white gloves. You can do it! Grab inspiration from the iconic poster of Rosie the Riveter. A chambray button-down, a red bandanna, and a red lip make this a super-easy yet classic costume. Everything is better with some sparkle. Do up your makeup with glitter and a hot-pink lip. Then add that horn headband to make the magic happen.
You think being a teenage girl is tough? Try being a teenage reaper! Dealing with classes, friends, and growing up, in general, is so much more of a pain when everyone is worried you're there to collect their souls. You can't hide that malicious intent so easily. Try hiding a sickle under your coat! But on the other hand, those reapers sure have some cool gothic styles, like this Tween Miss Reaper Costume, which is the perfect look for creeping everyone out on Halloween! Dark, tattered robes aren't exactly the most popular fashion statements, but when you're wearing them with this costume, you're not looking to win popularity contests. What you are looking for, though, are lost souls and spirits to collect and guide to the afterlife, and it's a tireless search that takes up tons of time. How can a reaper be expected to get all of her homework done when she's got a soul quota to meet? Plus, it's hard for reapers to take decent selfies to post online since they are always cloaked in supernatural darkness!
