From sumo squats more elegant than they sound , to round the world squats just as complicated as they sound , our squat practice just got a whole lot more interesting. Basic squat What it does: An amazing move that works all the muscles of the lower body, hamstrings, glutes, quads, calves and hip flexors as well as the core. Sumo squat What it does: Once you have conquered the standard squat you can progress to the Sumo squat which focuses more on the inner thighs as well as targeting all the same muscle groups as the standard squat. Round the world squats What it does: A great progression from standard squats to challenge your co-ordination, get the heart rate up and improve stamina. This will provide a big calorie burn. Side squat and leg raise What it does: This move really hones in on those inner and outer thighs as well as providing a great core exercise. The leg raise improves balance and makes the abs work harder.
