This is wonderful and in accordance with the desires of a loving Father in Heaven, but it can turn a marriage on its ear, if the spouse is unprepared. What do you think is a reasonable expectation for how much time you will spend together, how often you will talk, etc. If it's the former I'm more inclined to think he's being self-centered in your relationship. And no one has the right to judge you for your decision.
But, as soon as the marriage happened, the Mormon spouse goes full on Orthodox and expects the non Mormon to comply. Honestly, the bulk of what I did was pretty routine and uninteresting. Trust me, though--you will. You can't reason with fanatics, and you got one. Girls aren't socially required to be missionaries, unlike men.
